Growing the habit and passion for reading is one developed in early age. Books are important for many reasons. As the quote by George RR Martin on the edit I made says, a reader lives a thousand lives. I couldn't agree more. A reader lives with every character in every book, you sympathise and experience what the hero does. Books allow the imagination to flourish and everything comes to life. The words aren't just words anymore, they're a movie in your head.
I am an avid reader, I've always loved books. I rediscovered my passion for reading later in school and I've read hundreds of books since then along with exploring different genders. For me, reading isn't just a hobby, it's so much more than that. The more you read, the more your vocabulary grows. My favourite genres are fantasy and thriller. I love fantasy because it's always unique, it brings me to a totally different world which magnifies me. In particular, I'm mostly fond of high fantasy since the world-building is so vast, the characters are so very intriguing and the plot even more so. Fantasy has magic and supernatural creatures, any boundaries become possible. It wasn't a coincidence I chose a quote by George RR Martin, I'm a huge fan of A Song of Ice and Fire. This series is an excellent example of master class high fantasy. It's truly one of a kind: a huge number of multilayered characters, an enormous world-building, an even deeper plot with many secrets and twists along the way. It has limited magic and the existence of fantastic creatures. Another series I love is Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. I was hooked up from the very first page, Sanderson has built a huge universe, the storytelling it's so gripping it makes you read one page after another. These two series are personal favourites of mine.
The other genre I'm compelled to is thriller because of its intensity and mystery. I like how intense every book is from start to finish. I'm particularly fond of historical thrillers since I'm a History geek and historical mysteries are so my cup of tea. My favourite thriller series is Ben Hope by Scott Mariani. The author comes up with perfectly intriguing plots of the ever-enigmatic main character Ben Hope. Now, Ben is a totally different story. He has skills and abilities, unlike any other character. A former ex-military, he's a man of special qualities. Like I like to describe him, Ben's a one-man army. He's also sarcastic with a very cool sense of humour. Ben represents everything I love about characters in thrillers.

The second topic in the post is about my writing. I've been compelled to both reading and writing. I've been a hobby writer since 2013 when I started writing fiction in my native language. It was the era of fanfictions and that's what really brought me to writing and I slowly evolved. I've come a long way and I loved exploring different genres similar to my reading preferences. Just like it, I've been through romance and its subgenres - contemporary and historical, thriller, fantasy. My latest works are now in English. I wish to get practice and explore as I do have the ambition of publishing a book one day. I have everything moved onto Wattpad where I'm currently publishing my new projects as well. I love writing as I can bring my own ideas to life. At first, one of the reasons was I wanted to read something with a concrete idea in mind. This brought to creating what I wanted to read and I build a large audience of readers. The reviews helped me improve and know if I'm doing well, so I can continue working on my skills.
Both these hobbies have given me the amazing opportunity of meeting fellow bookworms and writers alike. I've made so many new friends I never thought I'd meet. I've had book blogs in English and Bulgarian, now I have a bookstagram which is another great opportunity of connecting with people with the same interests. I'm glad for having the chance of practising the things I like most.
